The project
Along the Hundelgemsesteenweg in Ghent, De Speurder is taking shape: a contemporary residential development comprising two family homes and a student residence with 81 units.
The student rooms are spread across five floors and offer various living formats, with or without private sanitary facilities and kitchenette. The ground floor provides space for a commercial function.
The location is easily accessible and within walking and cycling distance of the city centre and several campuses, close to ‘De Zuid’ district and the city ring road.

The works
The project combines traditional residential housing with a larger collective student accommodation scheme within an urban context.
The works include the construction of three storeys for the family homes and five levels for the student residence, with a strong focus on acoustic comfort, energy performance and sustainability.
Given the mix of functions and the compact nature of the site, a well-considered construction approach is essential, placing particular emphasis on mobility management and maintaining liveability in the surrounding neighbourhood.
