The project

In Blankenberge, we are developing the new Strandjutter care campus on behalf of Welzijnsvereniging Blankenberge, a partnership between the Public Centre for Social Welfare (OCMW) of Blankenberge and care organisation Motena.

The project includes, among other elements, a new residential care centre with 120 residential units. The architecture focuses on a human scale, comfort and connection: spacious, light-filled living areas, direct access to terraces, and a central 4,000 m² park garden.

The site is designed as a vibrant meeting place, featuring a shared bistro, a childcare centre, and community-oriented facilities such as a local service centre and pétanque courts.

Furnibo

The works

As contractor within the Furnibo–Aiko design-and-build team, we are responsible for the complete realisation of this care campus.

The project comprises the construction of a new residential care centre, day care centre and childcare facility, as well as the renovation of the existing local service centre. Particular attention is given to energy efficiency and the use of future-proof, sustainable materials.

The site will be built entirely fossil-free, featuring 6,500 metres of geothermal drilling, 80 solar panels and 33% renewable energy.
