The project
In Veurne, the Circular Concrete Center (CCC) is an innovative research facility dedicated to promoting circular concrete within the construction sector.
Connected to the existing Acasus building, the centre serves as a showcase for sustainable and future-oriented building practices. The design integrates a range of environmentally friendly solutions, including a green roof, geothermal heating and the reuse of demolition materials.
Stone and concrete rubble, for instance, are processed into circular concrete mixes and incorporated into the structural floor slabs of the new building.

The works
During construction, strong emphasis is placed on circular principles: elements from the demolished building are given a new purpose, and hybrid concrete is applied for specific components. The building is also partially designed for disassembly, allowing for straightforward future adaptations.
For the technical installations, a geothermal heat pump system has been selected, contributing to high energy efficiency.
The project is being realised in collaboration with Denc-Studio (architecture, EPB & building services), Cobe Ingenieurs (structural engineering), Feys (safety coordination) and Studio Basta (landscape design).
