Westerpunt, located at the westernmost point of Belgium, has been voted the “Most Beautiful Place in West Flanders” by the public. More than 5,000 enthusiastic votes were cast via Krant van West-Vlaanderen, with the Westerpunt emerging as the clear winner from a wide selection of 62 remarkable locations.
This recognition confirms the exceptional popularity of this relatively new monument, which has welcomed over 300,000 visitors since its opening in May 2024 and continues to attract around 25,000 people every month.
Westerpunt is much more than just a viewing point. This impressive loop-shaped concrete staircase seamlessly connects to the promenade and guides visitors upward to a breathtaking 360-degree panorama of the vast sea, the beach, the dunes, and the Westhoek nature reserve behind it.
The structure is carefully integrated into the landscape, with its form, scale, colour, and materials blending perfectly into the surroundings. It almost feels as if the Westerpunt has always been part of the scenery - a geometric link between land and sea, between people and nature.
